Eni calls reports on quitting Rosneft’s Black Sea project rumors
ROME/MOSCOW, Oct 24 (PRIME) -- Reports about Italian energy giant Eni’s withdrawal from joint projects with Russian oil major Rosneft on the Black Sea shelf are rumors, a spokesperson for Eni told PRIME on Wednesday.
“We read this news. We never comment on rumors, these are all rumors, gossip. There was an anonymous person in the text, and we know it,” the spokesperson said.
An employee of the Russian government administration said earlier that Eni had withdrawn from a project with Rosneft on the Black Sea shelf and is discussing a temporary suspension of projects on the Barents Sea shelf.
The spokesperson for Eni also said that Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi met with Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin in Moscow on Tuesday to discuss joint projects of the two companies.
“The meeting took place yesterday in Moscow, it was very warn and provided an opportunity to discuss joint projects, such as the large field Zohr in Egypt and possible future scenarios, which will certainly fully comply with international rules,” he said.
